Join professional artist Hazel Soan in Venice and benefit from her excellent teaching and knowledge of this inspirational and perfect painting destination.
Venice is without doubt one of the most unique cities in Europe and the World. It’s built on 117 islands and has 150 canals and 400 bridges! The fabulous architecture, its glorious light and the reflective qualities of the water never fail to inspire artists. All of Venice is a painter’s palette whether you choose to capture the grandeur of St Mark’s, the Doges Palace, the Campanile, the Bridge of Sighs and the Rialto Bridge or work in the quieter areas on Dorsoduro, on the other side of the Grand Canal, where there are lesser known bridges and canals and hidden palazzos and churches, squeri di San Trovaso; the oldest still functional gondola yard and the Gallerie Dell’Accademia and Santa Maria della Salute.
Hazel Soan is a hugely popular and dedicated art tutor. She featured in the Watercolour Challenge TV series and has published many instructional books including Watercolour Landscape Techniques. Hazel's natural ability to inspire and teach along with her warm personality makes for an immensely rewarding painting holiday that is suitable for students of all abilities. This is a wonderful opportunity to work alongside Hazel in Venice! To learn more about Hazel Soan click here
Every day will be spent painting. Whilst it can be daunting knowing that almost every famous artist has painted Venice it is one of the most artist-friendly destinations. Hazel Soan has painted in Venice on a couple of previous painting holidays and she will help you discover the lesser-painted Venice, as well as rediscovering new ways to paint the most famous sites. Hazel will be working alongside you most of the time and providing individual help when appropriate. There will also be group critique sessions. You may choose to work independently and in any medium. This holiday is most suitable for intermediate students and confident beginners.
All the arrangements are taken care of for you by an accompanying programme co-ordinator from the UK, enabling you and Hazel to concentrate solely on painting. You will be staying in a very comfortable hotel on Dorsoduro near to the Accademia, which is centrally located with everywhere within walking distance or a short vaporetto ride away. Dorsoduro is quieter and more relaxed and conducive to painting than staying on San Marco. All meals are included except lunches. Dinners will be in local restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Scheduled flights and private water taxi transfers are included.
This holiday is on behalf of the The Artist Magazine

"I have had the good fortune to work with Liz Drake at Spencer Scott Travel taking small groups on safari to East Africa and India. All aspects of the journey are handled in a most personal, thorough and sensitive way, and all the arrangements are organised with admirable attention to detail. I have always boarded the plane from London knowing we were all going to have the holiday of a lifetime."

"I've done lots of trips tour guiding for Spencer Scott Travel (Cuba, Peru, South Africa, Botswana, Uganda) and they have all been of the highest order, well planned, great itineraries, excellent support and clients always totally satisfied. They are a total pleasure to work for and I have loads of great memories to treasure as a result. Check them out if you want something special."

"I love working with Spencer Scott because I can be confident that, wherever we go, the Company will have secured the best available accommodation, services and back-up. This frees me to concentrate on what I enjoy most, which is finding really special wildlife experiences to share with our clients"
